About:Us

> Up:To:Scale is made by a humorous, easygoing, amiable, bearded and disgruntled Landscape Architect from Israel.

> Originally Up:To:Scale was just something shared with my fellow architect friends and colleagues but, as my need for attention grew, I decided to upload it for the rest of the world to see.

> The idea for Up:To:Scale came while working on cross sections for some project or other. It came to me that the people we usually add to drawings for scale and illustration could also have a character of their own. They could reflect our own reality and provide a different perspective on it.

> For that reason, earlier versions of Up:To:Scale were made using AutoCAD in true technical drawing style and aesthetics; but this technique was abandoned because I value my sanity and want to enjoy working on the comic. So I searched for a more easy-going method of illustrating my thoughts and came up with a simple "Scale-Person" which is easily made into different characters and expressions; and maintains a simple comic style.

> Up:To:Scale is made entirely using the good old Powerpoint 2003. I know there are more professional programs, I have them too and use them for other purposes; but for Up:To:Scale I like to use the good old Powerpoint 2003. The reasons are mainly that it's simple and constricting. These help turn out an intuitive (to me, at least) and relatively consistent style without the temptation of overproduction; which is always a serious trap when I work with Illustrator or Photoshop and the likes. At the same time, though, it still has enough options to provide a decent variety of creative content and backgrounds for the panels.

> Making an Up:To:Scale comic takes about 1-3 hours per comic, depending on how visually elaborate the comic is, how well formed the joke\story\anecdote is when I approach it; and not least on how much of the props I use are already illustrated in previous panles (I try to use Captain Copy and Private Paste as much as possible because of reasons).
